Good news! If you live in B.C., there’s a lot of financial support available. But we also know that figuring out the details can be tricky. That’s why we’ve teamed up with CleanBC to answer three common questions about rebates and how CleanBC can help you save.
CleanBC’s Energy Savings Program is part of their Better Homes initiative—a B.C. government program that helps homeowners save energy and cut down on greenhouse gas emissions with rebates and support.
This specific program is designed for low- to medium-income households, making energy-efficient home upgrades more affordable.
How much can you save? Well, depending on your income, you could get up to 100% of the costs covered for things like heat pumps, insulation, and other energy-saving improvements. And good news for renters—you can also benefit from this program, as long as your landlord is on board.
Sounds pretty great, right? Let’s take a closer look at how it all works!
CleanBC sorts income into three levels, with Level 1 being the lowest. The lower your income level, the higher your qualified rebate amount. Level 1 applicants typically get the most support, while Level 3 applicants qualify for fewer rebates.
See the income qualification table below:
✔️ Your home must be your primary residence and at least 12 months old.
✔️ If you’re applying under Income Level 1 or 2, your home’s assessed value must be $1,230,000 or less (based on a BC assessment).
✔️Your home must be primarily heated by natural gas, propane, oil, electricity, wood, or other solid fuels.
✔️ You must have an active utility account in your name with a municipal utility, FortisBC, or BC Hydro.
✔️ Your home must be one of the following:
You can apply for rebates with your landlord’s approval—just make sure to attach the landlord consent form to your application.
✔️Upgrades must be installed by a registered contractor in the program.
✔️ Your contractor must follow all rebate requirements for the installation.
📄 Before you dive in, make sure you're set up for success... Take a few minutes to review these key documents:
